Filling cracks, sanding, sealing stains and masking are what make paint last. Say in your message if there are damp patches or water stains, as those need sorting before painting.
New plaster
Fresh plaster needs to dry out fully and have a diluted mist coat before normal paint goes on, or the paint can peel. If you are having plastering done too, the decorating is planned around it.
Colours
