Rooms with a bath or shower are a special location in the wiring regulations. In England, adding to or altering a circuit close to a bath or shower is notifiable under Part P, so ask how any electrical work will be certified.
New bathrooms need extract ventilation to meet Part F of the Building Regulations, usually an extractor fan. If you are creating a bathroom or moving the shower, plan the fan and its ducting from the start.
Walk-in showers and wet rooms need the walls and floor waterproofed before tiling. It is hidden once the tiles are on, so ask what system will be used.

A like-for-like bathroom replacement does not usually need Building Regulations approval in England. Notifiable electrical work near the bath or shower, new drainage and new extract ventilation all have rules to follow. The building regulations guide on this site explains what applies to your job.
The rules mentioned here are explained, with official sources, in the guide How does a bathroom refit work, from strip-out to sealant?
