What happens during a kitchen refit, step by step?
The order of work in a kitchen refit, from measuring and strip-out to first fix, worktops, tiling and snagging, and where the rules apply.
Emir Handyman fits floors across South Ockendon, Thurrock and east London: laminate, luxury vinyl tile (LVT), engineered wood, vinyl sheet and ceramic or porcelain tiles. The sub-floor is checked and prepared first, because an uneven base shows through. Send photos and room sizes on WhatsApp for a free estimate.

Wood and laminate flooring usually needs to sit in the room it is going into before fitting, so it adjusts to the temperature and humidity. Check the manufacturer's instructions for your floor.
A new floor can raise the floor level, so doors may need trimming and thresholds changing. It is worth planning into the job from the start.
Order more flooring than the room area to allow for cuts and waste, especially for herringbone and diagonal layouts, which use more material.
Photograph the job from a few angles and send it to 07950 606 931 with your postcode.
Emir replies with a price from the photos, or arranges a visit to measure up for bigger jobs.

Yes. Herringbone flooring appears in Emir Handyman's own job photos, laid through a kitchen-diner and hallway. Herringbone takes longer to lay than straight boards and uses more material in cuts. Send the room sizes and the product you like on WhatsApp for a free estimate.
Whether an old floor needs to come up depends on what it is and what is going down. Carpet always comes up. Some vinyl or tiles can be overlaid if they are flat and firmly stuck, but that raises the floor height. Emir Handyman can advise once he sees photos of the floor.
For kitchens and bathrooms, luxury vinyl tile (LVT), vinyl sheet and ceramic or porcelain tiles cope best with water. Some laminate and engineered wood is rated for kitchens, but most is not made for bathrooms. Check the manufacturer's guidance before choosing a floor for a wet room.
The rules mentioned here are explained, with official sources, in the guide What happens during a kitchen refit, step by step?
